U-20 World Cup Hero Aguero Returns To Atletico

Aguero Returns To Atletico

He may not have had the best season with Atleti last year, but Sergio "Kun" Aguero has returned to the rojiblanco camp high on confidence after a brilliant U-20 World Cup campaign.

Sergio "Kun" Aguero remains one of Atletico Madrid's most high-profile signings of all time, and the diminutive youngster went some way towards showing why at the recent U-20 World Cup.

The forward ended the tournament as top scorer, with 6 goals to his name. He also was awarded with the Golden Ball for Player of the Tournament after a series of barnstorming displays.

He managed three goals in three games during the group stages, before grabbing two during the 3-1 win over Poland in the Round of 16.

Aguero failed to net in the quarter and semi finals, but still put in convincing performances, so much so that he was awarded the captain's armband for the final against the Czech Republic.

Argentina had already faced the Czechs in the group stage - that match culminating in a 0-0 draw - but Aguero steered his team towards a memorable victory, netting the first comeback goal as Argentina fought back to win 2-1

Now, without a summer vacation to speak of, he's back in Madrid, and will train this evening along with the rest of the Atleti squad.

He could even be called into action for the Intertoto Cup Third Round Second Leg clash with Gloria Bistrita this weekend, after the disappointing 2-1 defeat in Romania left the rojiblancos with it all to do.
