Kun Aguero: Messi Could Be The World's Best

Kun Aguero: Messi Could Be The World's Best

During an interview with Marca in Madrid's world-famous Prada museum, Atletico Madrid striker Sergio "Kun" Aguero reflected both on the Liga title race, and the quality of the opposition.

The youngster told the Spanish sports daily, "Atletico have the team to win the league.

"I'm happy here, and feel as if I'd like to end my career at Atletico."

Never one for modesty, Aguero went on to offer praise for both fellow Argentine striker Lionel Messi and, with a proviso, himself.

"Messi could be the best in the world for two years... and I, too, if I continue working," he smiled.

Indeed, while he believes that Atletico are potentially title material, it is Messi's squad that he feels favourites to lift the Spanish Liga trophy.

"Barça are more dangerous than Madrid," he insisted.

Aguero, 19, si already a full Argentina international. So far this season, he's scored seven goals in the Liga, making him joint-top scorer and, if penalties are discounted from the equation, top overall.

In Europe, he's also found form, with Lokomotiv Moscow boss Anatoly Byshovets recently praising his input.

Aguero Doubtful As Atletico Attack Crumbles.

Aguero Doubtful As Atletico Attack Crumbles

First, Miguel Mista succumbed to injury. Then, Diego Forlan followed him. Now, Sergio 'Kun' Aguero may join them on the sidelines as the young Argentina international is declared doubtful ahead of the weekend clash with Villarreal.

Sergio 'Kun' Aguero could become the latest Atletico casualty ahead of Sunday's vital tie with Villarreal.

The Argentina international striker has been rendered slightly doubtful for the meeting between the two challenging sides after developing a muscle problem during Wednesday's 4-3 win over Sevilla.

However, unlike teammates Diego Forlan and Miguel Mista, he is strongly expected to make the squad, albeit as the sole natural striker available to coach Javier Aguirre.

Aguero is Atleti's top Liga goalscorer thus far with six strikes in the side's first ten games. He's also hit the mark in Europe as Atletico return to the UEFA Cup.

With Forlan out of action, Maxi Rodriguez may well line up with Kun.

Thiago Motta, the long-term midfield casualty, and recent crock Pablo Ibanez will definitely miss the encounter as their respective recoveries continue.

Atletico won both Liga meetings between the sides last season, but still finished two places below the Yellow Submarine.

Juventus Preparing Aguero Bid?

Juventus Preparing Aguero Bid?

Juventus are preparing a bid for Atletico Madrid’s teenage sensation Sergio Aguero, according to German website 4-4-2.com

The Argentine forward is one of the hottest young properties in world football and has made a stunning start to the current campaign, with five goals in La Liga already.

This follows on from his mesmerising displays in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in the summer when he finished top-scorer and player of the tournament as Argentina lifted the trophy.

Juventus were already interested in signing Aguero before he left Independiente in 2006, however the €20m price tag, as well as the Calciopoli crisis scuppered any chances of a deal.

The Bianconeri are now prepared to pay €22m for the 19-year-old and are also likely to throw in Portuguese flop Tiago Mendes as part of the bargain.

Juve are likely to face stiff interest from a host of other interested parties, and Valencia, Bayern Munich and Italian rivals Inter are also said to be sniffing around.

Aguero made his professional debut for Independiente at the age of just 15, and in the process became the youngest ever player to feature in the Argentine First Division.

The previous record was held by the legendary Diego Maradona, who as it happens celebrates his 47th birthday today. Happy Birthday Diego!

Agüero Will Be One Of The Very Best - Cerezo

Agüero Will Be One Of The Very Best - Cerezo

Atlético de Madrid president, Enrique Cerezo, believes that Sergio Agüero will become one of the world's best players and taunted the critics who said he would not make it in Spain.

The Argentinian added to his goals tally and provided a superb pass for Maxi to score against Sevilla on Wednesday night and the club supremo was delighted.

When Atleti moved to sign Agüero in the summer of 2006, many stated that the club should have waited as the youngster was not their first choice.

"When everyone said that made a mistake in signing him because he was not the player that we wanted at first, I always said the same thing," Cerezo explained.

"That was that he would be one of the best five players in the world in the next few years."

Atlético edged into fourth place in the table following the thrilling midweek win and Cerezo believes that the squad will remain level-headed about their strong start to the campaign.

"We have a young team and they have to go step-by-step and remain calm without becoming carried away," he concluded.

Agüero Could Be Phenomenal - Zé Castro

Agüero Could Be Phenomenal - Zé Castro

Zé Castro believes that Sergio Agüero has everything that it takes to become one of world's best players after another impressive performance at the weekend.

The Portuguese defender has been impressed by his Atlético team-mate's rise to prominence this term and has not doubts about what he could achieve in the game.

Agüero, 19, has already scored ten goals in all competitions this term and Castro, 24, is hoping that he can continue to improve even further..

"Agüero is spectacular and has everything he needs to become a phenomenon," he said.

"He is very young and it is difficult at his age to maintain consistency, but he is doing that.

"If he wants to make it to the very top he has to continue what he is doing now and I think he has a strong mind.

"Little-by-little he is beginning to understand that because everyone knows how good he is and what he do in games.

"He has everything to become the best if he continues to work hard.

Atlético edged into fifth place at the weekend with victory at Levante as Agüero supplied the pass for Diego Forlán to score the winner.

Atlético Mulling New Agüero Deal.

Atlético Mulling New Agüero Deal

Sergio Agüero's agent is confident that Atlético de Madrid will begin talks over a new deal because he feels the player's buy-out clause is currently too low.

The 19-year-old has become hot property after an impressive summer in the U-20 World Cup with Argentina and with his strong start to the Spanish league, where he has netted five goals.

Agüero's current deal containts a €36m buy-out clause and IMG's Maxi Lo Russo believes that in time Atlético will agree that the figure needs to be raised to ward off major clubs.

"We are calm. Here, with what has to be done, there is time," he said.

"The season has only just started and we are in permanent contact with the club .

"We have a friendly relationship and Sergio just wants to continue playing and try to be do as well as possible.

"The other thing will be sorted out.

"Although his current buy-out clause is not low, it not that high either and we presume that Atlético are analysing the prospect of renewing his deal."

Atlético president, Enrique Cerezo, was not prepared to talk publicly about the situation as he did not want a repeat of ongoing saga that eventually saw Fernando Torres leave.

"I do not want to start another soap opera like the one we saw with Torres," he stated.

"The day that something happens we will let everyone know, but at the moment we do not want him to become unsettled.

"I am not going to start talking about this while nothing has happened."
